One of the most important and complex aspects of the Zinfonia system is the way it manages the distribution of works and orders across the globe. Publishers have always had tools to manage these rules (either in HLMSW or in Zinfonia itself) but the whole system has recently been re-written to provide a new level of control in the version of Zinfonia that was launched today.
Previously the distribution was managed at the Publisher level, but it is now possible to set special rules on a work level as well. To see this in action, you must first log into the publisher admin section. When logged as a publisher, the 
distributor icon does not display the local publisher, it displays ALL of the small right distributors for any work.
Being able to see ALL distributors is important for publishers to make sure sure that any title configured correctly in Zinfonia. For YOUR titles, there is an Edit button that is used to set individual rules for a single title.
One thing to notice on this screen is the numbers that are displayed alongside the Small Rights [100179] and Grand Rights [100179] columns. These are internal numbers that identify the rules but may be useful for you to quickly check for differences between publishers because the same number means the same rules.
From this screen you can use the buttons to perform global changes or use the drop down values on each country to set the rules.
Quote Required
One other major change in this release, is that Zinfonia now makes it much clearer that quotes are required by including alerts in the order process and in confirmation emails.
As a publisher, you have the option to allow your customers to select whether or not a quote is required by using the option below in the Publisher Settings screen:
When that is selected, users are presented with the following option in the order process (the default state is NOT checked):
The order will say A QUOTE IS REQUIRED or A quote is NOT required depending on the user’s selections.
