An important part of library organisation is the management of the restrictions and exclusivities that exist for many works in the repertoire.
In the past the notes feature of HLMSW was used extensively to manage this function, but with HLMSW v7.3 comes dedicated functionality to manage work restrictions and exclusivities.
HLMSW users will be able to create their own types of restrictions which can be quickly and easily be added when entering performance details or directly using the new Restriction Editor.
The restrictions module has a number of significant improvements to the current way of handling this including:
- Restrictions will automatically expire when the period of exclusivity ends
- Users are only notified about restrictions when entering a NEW transaction for a work with current restrictions.
For those of you that have to manage availability according geographic rules, especially for managing shows and plays, HLMSW now provides direct functionality to allow you to view restrictions using map-based tools.
This module is optional and will be included in the next release due in January 2013.
